I was asked about Green Smoothies, so here it is!
I read about these over a year ago. Not quite sure how I got there, but it was somewhere between these two blogs/websites.
Green Smoothie Girl
Happy Foody (specifically this post)
The basic premises is that the more greens you get in your diet, the better your body can function. Lots of fiber also. Oh, and a GREAT way to get some of those nasty greens you would never eat on their own! And for people like me... who LOATH salad... lets just say, this is the ONLY way I would ever get greens in my diet!
Soo, to the recipe.
1 C water
1 spoonful of cold pressed unrefined coconut oil
Lots of greens.. anything you want. I would start with just spinach. It tastes mild. (I like a little kale and collards and also mustard greens Oh... and parsley is AMAZING!)
You need enough greens that once blended with the water and oil, it makes about 3 cups. That is a LOT.
After you have blended the heck outta those greens and water, add frozen fruit. I only need a cup or so of frozen fruit, but feel free to add more. I prefer strongly flavored fruit like mangoes and peaches. Mangoes are the BEST!
Now pour into a big huge glass and enjoy a wonderful delight!
As you get farther along, you will be able to add less fruit, and more greens. I also sometimes use flax seed oil, or probiotics or any of those random little things that are hard to get into your diet, but are oh so healthy. When I have had a REALLY bad nutrition day, and I feel bloated and just plain nasty, I have been known to take a day off, and just drink green smoothies all day. It always seems to get me right back on track. I love them I tell you... LOVE them.
Oh, and worry not about the 'side effects'. As far as the fiber and the cleansing they are full of, the only real issue I had... was that pooing went from a terrible drudgery (since giving birth, it was ALWAYS painful) to an almost delight! I mean really, could it be more great than that? And delicious too? Oh, and the prettiest green ever! (Unless you use berries... and then you get a poothie! haha!)
Enjoy my friends! I sure do. The very worst comment I ever got from someone trying one was... oh, wow, that is not bad! Most of the time people tell me how shocked they are that it is so yummy, and how can they make more! And just as often.. I have a new convert, a few have even saved up for the expensive blender I have that makes them silky smooth! Now THAT is some smoothie love!

I'm very excited about trying the green smoothie! I'm also laughing hard that your post sounds like your poo is delicious and the prettiest green ever! hahahhahahaha congrats on that! ;)
I was wondering about them too. Thanks. Question though. What blender do you have. Ours is awful there is always chuncks of ice or frozen fruit. But I have debated which to get... Kitchen Aid?
Oooh, Bre.. the one I have, I seriously had to work a side job just to afford. It was like $300. It is a BlendTec that I got 'used' from eBay. It is the same brand they use at Starbucks!
